Power Restoration Update: Negros Power Reaches 95% Re-Energization After Typhoon Tino
When Signal No. 4 Typhoon Tino struck Negros Island on November 4, 2025, it left a trail of destruction that tested the strength, patience, and resilience of every community it touched. Homes were damaged, roads were blocked, and thousands of families were plunged into darkness. Yet even in the hardest days, one thing never faltered—the collective determination to rise again.
Today, just over two weeks after the typhoon, Negros Power shares a hopeful update:
Central Negros is steadily regaining power, stability, and a sense of normalcy.
Full Restoration of Major System Components
As of 7 PM on November 19, 2025, Negros Power reports that its backbone systems—the essential structures that keep electricity flowing—are now fully restored:
- 100% (5/5) sub-transmission lines energized
- 100% (11/11) substations energized
- 100% (48/48) feeders energized
These numbers reflect more than technical accomplishments; they represent communities reconnecting with the world after days of darkness.
Bacolod City: Nearing Complete Restoration
For 157,646 consumers in Bacolod City, power restoration has reached remarkable progress:
- 100% secondary lines restored
- 99.38% metering and service-drop connections restored
- Only 0.62% (977 customers) remain pending for final energization
This means nearly every household in the city has been reconnected—a significant achievement considering the severity of the typhoon’s impact.
Across the Entire Franchise Area: Majority Re-Energized
Of the 244,915 customers initially affected across Central Negros:
- 95.60% have been successfully re-energized
- 4.40% await final restoration
The remaining areas—mostly remote, severely hit communities—are facing more complicated repair needs. Yet despite the challenges, progress continues every hour.
Why Some Areas Take Longer: The Realities on the Ground
While the restoration numbers show tremendous improvement, the last remaining pockets of darkness present the most difficult obstacles. These include:
1. Downed poles in remote sitios
Many damaged poles lie in areas unreachable by vehicles. Crews must manually haul, lift, and install them—work that demands time, strength, and coordination.
2. Severely damaged “Meters on Poles” and service wires
Some homes lost both meters and wiring, requiring complete reconstruction before safe energization.
3. Privately owned poles and transformers
For reconnection, some require the submission of promissory notes, causing unavoidable delays.
4. Unrepaired service entrances in typhoon-damaged homes
If a house’s electrical connection point is unsafe or destroyed, it must be fixed first before power can be restored.
These challenges involve a combination of technical skill, logistics, compliance checks, and safety protocols. Despite all these complexities, Negros Power assures consumers that crews are deployed around the clock to complete the remaining tasks.

A Community Effort: Gratitude for Every Helping Hand
Behind every restored line and every re-energized home is a story of Bayanihan.
Negros Power extends heartfelt thanks to:
- Local government officials
- Barangay leaders
- Volunteers
- Partner agencies
- Concerned citizens who opened roads, provided equipment, and supported crews
Their collective effort accelerated restoration at every stage. In the face of a disaster that shook the island, the unity of Central Negros proved stronger than any storm.
Rising Together: Light Returning to Negros Island
Restoring electricity is more than repairing poles and wires—it is restoring comfort, safety, livelihoods, and hope.
Every household reconnected is a silent victory.
Every sitio that lights up again is a reminder of resilience.
And every remaining restoration challenge is met with unwavering commitment.
Typhoon Tino tested the island’s strength.
But as lights continue to come back on across Central Negros, one thing becomes clear:
The spirit of Negros is unbreakable.
With partners, communities, and tireless crews, Negros Power remains committed to completing restoration swiftly, safely, and wholeheartedly—until every consumer is reconnected and every home shines once again.
