Negros Power Helps Create Safer Classrooms Through Brigada Eskwela in 23 Schools
Electrical Safety and Community Service Take Center Stage During Brigada Eskwela 2026
As thousands of students prepare to return to school, ensuring that classrooms are not only clean but also safe has become a shared responsibility among educators, communities, and private sector partners. This year, Negros Power strengthened that effort through its active participation in Brigada Eskwela 2026, bringing both volunteer support and electrical safety expertise to 23 public schools across Central Negros.

Supporting School Readiness Across Central Negros
From June 1 to 5, Negros Power joined teachers, parents, school personnel, and community volunteers in preparing schools for the opening of classes. The initiative covered public schools in Bacolod City, Bago City, Murcia, Silay City, and Talisay City, helping ensure that learning spaces are ready to welcome students for another academic year.
Employees participated in various campus improvement activities, including clean-up drives, minor repairs, and classroom preparation efforts aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment.

Going Beyond Traditional Brigada Eskwela Activities
While Brigada Eskwela is often associated with painting classrooms and cleaning school grounds, Negros Power expanded its contribution by focusing on an equally important aspect of school readiness—electrical safety.
Recognizing that faulty wiring and aging electrical facilities can pose risks to both students and educators, the company integrated electrical inspections into its volunteer efforts, providing schools with an additional layer of protection before classes begin.
Free Electrical Safety Inspections for 23 Schools
In partnership with the Association of Barangay Electricians and Linemen (ABEL), Negros Power conducted free electrical inspections in every school included in the program.
The inspections covered wiring systems, electrical connections, switches, outlets, circuit protection devices, and other electrical facilities commonly used in classrooms and administrative offices. The goal was simple: identify potential hazards before they become safety concerns.
By addressing electrical issues early, schools can reduce risks, improve safety, and provide a more secure environment for both learners and school personnel.
Protecting Learners and Educators Through Prevention
For Negros Power, safety remains at the heart of community service.
“The safety of our learners and educators is one of our priorities. Through our partnership with the Association of Barangay Electricians and Linemen (ABEL), we conducted free electrical inspections in every school we visited to ensure that their wiring systems, electrical connections, and facilities are safe and ready for the opening of classes. By identifying potential electrical hazards early, we help create a safer learning environment for students, teachers, and school personnel,” said Unice Castillon, Community Relations Assistant Manager of Negros Power.
The initiative reflects the company’s belief that preventing accidents is just as important as responding to them.
Reaching Schools Throughout the Franchise Area
Among the schools visited during Brigada Eskwela 2026 were Ramon Torres National High School in Bago City, Murcia Elementary School, Eustaquio Lopez Elementary School in Silay City, Singcang National High School, Handumanan National High School, Domingo Lacson National High School, and numerous other elementary and secondary schools throughout the franchise area.
The program enabled Negros Power to directly engage with school communities while addressing practical concerns related to campus safety and preparedness.
Strengthening Communities Through Education
Education remains one of the strongest foundations of community development. By supporting Brigada Eskwela, Negros Power contributes not only to the physical preparation of schools but also to the well-being of the students who will occupy those classrooms.
The initiative demonstrates how collaboration between the private sector, local communities, and educational institutions can create meaningful and lasting impact.
Creating Safer Learning Environments for the Next Generation
As another school year begins, Negros Power continues to show that community service extends beyond the delivery of electricity. Through programs that promote safety, volunteerism, and educational support, the company helps create learning environments where students can focus on what matters most—their education.
With 23 schools reached, hundreds of classrooms prepared, and critical electrical systems inspected, Brigada Eskwela 2026 stands as another example of how collective action can help build safer schools and brighter futures across Central Negros.
