    Among the best practices for email marketing discussed in this blog, I have come to realized what practices could resonate to us students, based on my personal experience on having an encounter with email marketing. It should be relevant, engaging, informative, and is customized according to our needs and wants. The following are the two best practices that I believe resonates with students:

    Creating valuable content builds a brand recognition and creates stronger connections to the audiences by offering relevant and informative content. By creating a content that has substance, it encourages potential customer to open and read the content. It helps the brand to become established and trusted. Thus, it is necessary to identify target audience to tailor the emails’ content based on their interests.

    2. Engagement through Interactive Content
    Incorporating interactive elements such as polls, quizzes, and embedded forms boosts the engagement by inviting participation, which most in our generation loves to try. Making the email more interactive, allows the audience to discover more about the brand. Compared to traditional marketing, incorporating interactive content makes the audience’ experience more enjoyable. These features provides opportunity for the audience to raise suggestions, and personalized offers. It gives a good impression of the brand, and creates a sense of inclusiveness.

    It must be catchy and, above all, relevant to us. As students, we would always pay more attention and hook in to those emails that might resonate to our interests, needs, or attributes, most especially with the discounts offered. We will give more attention to it if it’s something that could benefit us or connect with what we’re undergoing. If the content isn’t valuable or doesn’t seem to be relevant, then we’ll probably ignore it. Therefore, it is what creates the most impact on the target audience that actually makes email marketing truly effective.

    There should be a call to action for every email we get. If I’m being real, I easily get disinterested and I think a lot of people my age— students to be exact, are the same way as me. With that, it is important for me that the content hooks me to further read and get into. An example is my favorite, Vogue Philippines. I subscribed to their newsletter and I receive news and updates regarding current fashion and lifestyle, especially their monthly issues.
    Another practice that entices me is a clear call to action. I want my newsletter to be clear first and foremost. It is another way to get my attention right away. One example is Penshoppe. This month of September, I received an email offering me a birthday discount for the whole month. It clearly displayed the promo that I will be getting. I like that it is personalized as well, offering me discounts on my birth month and addressing me by my name.
