Sitio Electrification Program Continues to Bring Light and Opportunities to Remote Communities
Negros Power continues to expand access to electricity in remote communities as the company successfully energized Sitio Hibong in Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City on May 16, 2026.
The latest energization project marks the 57th sitio connected under Negros Power’s Sitio Electrification Program (SEP), a continuing initiative aimed at delivering reliable and accessible electricity to underserved areas across Central Negros.
A total of 30 households in Sitio Hibong can now benefit from stable electricity, improving daily living conditions and creating new opportunities for education, communication, and livelihood within the community.
Rural Electrification Program Continues to Expand [ Negros Power Reaches 57 Energized Sitios ]
Through the Sitio Electrification Program, Negros Power has steadily expanded its reach to remote areas within its franchise coverage.
To date, the company has energized 57 sitios and connected 2,703 households out of the 3,338 identified potential household beneficiaries under the program.
The electrification projects now cover several areas in Central Negros, including:
- Bacolod City
- Silay City
- Talisay City
- Bago City
- Murcia
- Don Salvador Benedicto
The program aims to help improve the quality of life in communities that previously had limited or no access to electricity.
Infrastructure Investments Support Community Development [ Negros Power Reaches 57 Energized Sitios ]
Negros Power has also continued investing in infrastructure development to support the expansion of the electrification program.
Under the SEP, the company has already completed:
- installation of 803 poles
- energization of 66 distribution transformers
- approximately 66.9 kilometers of electrical conductors
The completed projects represent a combined transformer capacity of 2,383 kVA and a projected demand of 927 kW.
Negros Power has allocated approximately ₱52.38 million for the implementation of the Sitio Electrification Program, highlighting the company’s commitment to rural development and inclusive access to electricity.
Electricity Brings Positive Changes to Communities [ Negros Power Reaches 57 Energized Sitios ]
Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning, Business Operations and Sitio Electrification Program and spokesperson of Negros Power, emphasized that every energized sitio represents progress for local communities.
“Every sitio we energize represents hope and progress for the community. Through these projects, we are not only providing electricity but also opening more opportunities for education, livelihood, communication, and better living conditions for our fellow Negrenses,” Tambanillo said.
Residents of Sitio Hibong also expressed appreciation for the project, noting that access to electricity is expected to make daily tasks easier, support students studying at night, and provide opportunities for small businesses and additional sources of income.
Negros Power Continues Commitment to Inclusive Electrification
As Negros Power continues to energize more remote communities across Central Negros, the company moves closer to its goal of providing safe, dependable, and accessible electricity to more families throughout the region.
The successful energization of Sitio Hibong reflects the continuing efforts to connect underserved communities and support long-term social and economic development in Negros Occidental.
