Negros Power Leads Visayas in Clean Energy, Earns ERC Honor
Utility Recognized for Outstanding Net-Metering Leadership
Negros Power has received national recognition from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for its leadership in advancing renewable energy and expanding the Net-Metering Program across the Visayas.
The award was presented during the ERC’s 25th Anniversary Celebration on June 26, 2026, recognizing the utility’s outstanding contribution to the country’s clean energy transition.
National Recognition for Renewable Energy Leadership [ ERC Honors Negros Power ]
The plaque of recognition was awarded by ERC Chairperson Atty. Francis Saturnino Juan to Negros Power President and Chief Executive Officer Roel Castro, with Energy Secretary Sharon Garin joining the ceremony.
According to the ERC, Negros Power has connected the highest number of Qualified End-Users (QEs) in the Visayas since the Net-Metering Program was introduced in 2014.
Driving Solar Adoption Across the Visayas [ ERC Honors Negros Power ]
Through its aggressive promotion of renewable energy, Negros Power has enabled more homeowners, businesses, and institutions to install solar energy systems and participate in net-metering, allowing them to generate electricity while exporting excess power to the grid.
As of June 19, 2026, the utility reported:
- 1,471 Qualified End-Users
- 23,797 kilowatts (kW) of installed net-metering capacity
These figures underscore the region’s growing shift toward renewable energy and consumer-led power generation.
