Negros Power Nears Full Restoration After Typhoon Tino

Negros Power Nears Full Restoration After Typhoon Tino: 99% of Bacolod Consumers Re-Energized

Two weeks after Typhoon Tino swept across Negros Island, a sense of normalcy is returning to Bacolod City. Negros Power has shared encouraging updates on its post-typhoon restoration efforts, marking major milestones that many residents have been eagerly waiting for.

Steady Progress Toward Full Energization

As of 4:00 AM on November 17, 2025, Negros Power confirmed that all major system components are now fully restored—an important step in stabilizing the power distribution network.
The utility reports:

  • 100% of sub-transmission lines energized

  • 100% of substations operational

  • 100% of feeders restored

These developments form the backbone of the broader restoration, allowing reconnection efforts to flow more efficiently to homes and businesses.

Bacolod City: Almost Back to 100%

Within Bacolod City, restoration has reached near completion. Secondary lines are now 100% re-energized, while 98.83% of metering and service-drop connections have been restored.

For many families and establishments, this means lights are back on, appliances are running, and daily routines are slowly settling back into place.

Across Central Negros: Majority Re-Energized

In the larger franchise area, 92.20% of affected consumers—out of 244,915—have been reconnected.
Only 7.80% remain offline, most of them located in sitios and barangays that bore the brunt of Typhoon Tino’s impact.

These last-mile areas typically require more time, care, and coordination, but crews continue to work diligently to complete the remaining tasks.

Why Some Areas Take Longer

Negros Power also explained why some communities are experiencing extended restoration timelines. These include:

  • 1. Hard-to-Reach Locations. Some downed poles are in remote sitios that require manual transport and onsite assembly.
  • 2. Severely Damaged Components
  • “Meters on Poles” and service wires in certain areas need complete rehabilitation, not just repairs.
  • 3. Privately Owned Poles and Transformers
  • These require documentation and promissory notes before reconnection can proceed.
  • 4. House Service Entrances Affected by the Storm

Typhoon-damaged homes must first repair their service entrances to ensure safe re-energization.

Despite these challenges, teams are deployed around the clock, with safety and efficiency at the forefront.

Bayanihan in Action

Negros Power expressed its heartfelt gratitude to government officials, barangay leaders, volunteers, and partner agencies who have been instrumental in speeding up the recovery. Their cooperation has helped crews navigate obstacles more smoothly.

This collective effort highlights the enduring Bayanihan spirit—proof that communities in Negros truly come alive when they work together.

A Community Moving Forward

With most households and business establishments now re-energized, life in Central Negros is slowly returning to its familiar rhythm. The quick progress is a testament to the dedication of linemen working day and night, as well as the resilience and unity of the Negrense community.

As the last remaining areas prepare to be fully restored, the momentum remains positive—promising brighter and more stable days ahead for everyone in Negros.
