There was a time when I would unconsciously plan my day around brownouts.

Not in obvious ways—but in small, quiet habits. Charging everything ahead of time. Finishing work earlier than needed. Even simple routines felt like they had to adjust “just in case.” Amo gid na before—always anticipating interruptions, always making allowances.

But lately, something has changed.

I began noticing it little by little. The lights staying steady. Workdays flowing without disruption. Even when interruptions happen, they don’t linger the way they used to. Indi na pareho sang una—there’s a difference you can actually feel.

And now, hearing about Negros Power’s plan to build two new substations in Bacolod—one near the Provincial Capitol and another in the Megaworld area—it all starts to make sense.

This isn’t just an announcement. It’s proof of something already happening.

A System Growing with the City

Bacolod is evolving. You see it in new developments, rising business districts, and the steady pace of growth across the city.

But growth needs support—and electricity is at the center of it all.

With these two new substations, Negros Power will bring the total to 13 substations by mid-2027. That tells me the system isn’t just reacting—it’s preparing for what’s ahead.

For us consumers, that means something simple but powerful: more reliable electricity where it matters most.

Real Investments, Real Impact

What makes this even more meaningful is the scale of investment already poured into improving the system.

In just 19 months, around ₱1.3 billion has been spent on rehabilitation and upgrades.

₱250 million for the new substations
₱130 million for 69kV transmission lines

These are not just figures. They translate into stronger infrastructure, better power flow, and fewer disruptions in our daily lives.

And honestly, I’ve started to feel that difference.

Fewer Interruptions, Shorter Downtime

One of the most reassuring updates is how much performance has improved:

38% improvement in outage frequency
67% reduction in outage duration

In simple terms, power interruptions happen less often—and when they do, they don’t last long.

I’ve experienced this myself. What used to feel like a major disruption now feels like a brief pause. It no longer derails the entire day.

For households, that means comfort.
For businesses, that means continuity.
For all of us, that means less stress.

Progress, Even Through Challenges

Of course, not everything comes easy.

The underground cable project along Lacson Street faced delays, especially during Typhoon Tino. But it’s now nearing completion.

And to me, that says a lot.

Because real progress isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about moving forward despite them.

A Plan That’s Already Taking Shape

Negros Power’s five-year rehabilitation and development plan is now 39% complete.

That number matters.

Because it shows that what we’re experiencing today is only part of a bigger transformation still underway.

The vision is clear:

enhanced reliability
upgraded systems
improved safety
more efficient operations

And from where I stand, it’s no longer just a plan—it’s something we’re already living.

The Difference You Can Feel

At the end of the day, this isn’t about substations, transmission lines, or technical upgrades.

It’s about everyday life.

It’s about being able to:

finish work without interruption
run a business without worrying about downtime
enjoy time at home without inconvenience

It’s about peace of mind.

And lately, I’ve been feeling that more and more.

From constantly adjusting to simply living—amo gid na ang pinaka dako nga difference.

And with these new developments, it’s clear: things are not just improving.

They’re moving forward.
