Diving Into Dinner: An Unplanned Steak Night at Kristin’s Steakhouse

The Unplanned Dinner

This wasn’t planned.
None of our dinners ever are.

After malling, the three of us stood there—doing that familiar post-mall pause where you ask the big questions in life:
Do we go home… or do we eat first?

Going home meant eating alone.
Doing nothing.
And pretending the refrigerator had something exciting waiting for us.

So naturally, we chose dinner.

The Eternal Question: Where Do We Eat?

As usual, choosing a place took longer than the actual meal.

I had only one requirement:
👉 More meat.

I follow a certain diet (the kind that avoids carbs and excuses), so the place had to understand that “I’ll skip the starch” is not a personality flaw—it’s a lifestyle choice.

After a long debate, someone said it:
Kristin’s Steakhouse.

And suddenly we all paused.

Kristin’s Steakhouse : A Place We Forgot… But Didn’t Really

I remember Kristin’s Steakhouse from way back—when they were still along Lacson Street. I ate there years ago, then… silence. No updates. No sightings. No cravings triggered.

Then it hit us:
They’re now at Kundotel, Goldenfields Commercial Complex.

And that explained everything.

Goldenfields, once the nightlife capital of Bacolod, has quietly slipped into that category called “places we forget until we’re already nearby.” The casino stopped operating. The bowling lanes closed. New places rose elsewhere. Bacolod moved on—quickly, as it tends to do.

First Impressions at Kristin’s Steakhouse (No Pretensions, Just Honest)

When we arrived, some tables were already occupied—which is always a good sign. One long table looked like it belonged to a big family reunion, plus a few other tables clearly enjoying their meals.

The place isn’t big.
But it’s presentable and decent—the kind of restaurant where you can bring guests without whispering, “Pasensya na ha.”

The waiters caught my attention too. They weren’t the usual very young staff you see everywhere. They looked more senior—not old, just… seasoned. Professional. Calm. The kind who don’t panic when you customize your order.

That alone already earned points.

Ordering With Intent (and Restrictions)

I ordered the Cheeseburger Steak—but instead of gravy, I asked for lemon butter. No starch, no drama.

Engiemar went for Lechon Kawali.
Leilani chose Kristin’s Steak.

At this point, I should confess something.

I completely forgot that I’m a blogger.
I didn’t ask about their story.
I didn’t ask how long they’ve been operating.
I didn’t ask about their concept.

I was focused on food.
Which, honestly, is sometimes the most sincere way to dine. 😄

The Food at Kristin’s Steakhouse: Straightforward and Satisfying

My cheeseburger steak was tender and juicy—no complaints there. It came with mashed potatoes, which I generously donated to my dinner companions because, again, carbs and I are currently not on speaking terms.

According to Engiemar and Leilani, their dishes were good as well. Leilani’s steak, in particular, came in generous servings—something you quietly appreciate when ordering steak and checking prices at the same time.

Speaking of prices…

Pricing, Comfort, and the Quiet Win

Most items on the menu range between ₱400 to ₱600.
For steak and hearty meals in Bacolod, that’s very acceptable—especially in an air-conditioned, clean, and comfortable space.

The place was clean.
The air-conditioning worked (this matters more than people admit).
The service was steady and polite.

No theatrics.
No overpromising.
Just a solid dinner.

My Personal Take (Not a Review, Just a Realization)

What struck me most wasn’t just the food.

It was the realization that some places don’t disappear—they just wait quietly.

Kristin’s Steakhouse didn’t chase trends.
It didn’t scream for attention.
It stayed where it was, serving food, letting people rediscover it when they needed a place that made sense.

And maybe that’s okay.

The Pause

Not every dinner has to be an event.
Sometimes, it just has to be good enough to make you stay a little longer.

And sometimes, forgetting you’re a blogger is actually a compliment.

The Soft Exit | Kristin’s Steakhouse

We came in undecided.
We left full.
And we remembered a place we had almost forgotten.

Which, in Bacolod, is already saying something.

I’d go back—not to make a statement, but simply because it works.

And some nights, that’s more than enough.
