1,671 Remote Homes Lighted in Central Negros: Negros Power Sitio Electrification Program Brings Hope, Progress, and New Opportunities
Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines — For countless families in the remote sitios of Central Negros, the absence of electricity was a daily reality. Nights meant darkness, children studied by candlelight, and the simple act of charging a phone or preserving food required long journeys to neighboring barangays. For generations, electricity remained a distant hope—until now.
A Historic Milestone: 1,671 Remote Homes Finally Receive Electricity
That hope has turned into reality for 1,671 households, thanks to the unwavering commitment of Negros Power, a Primelectric subsidiary under the Razon Group. Through its groundbreaking Sitio Electrification Program, Negros Power has illuminated 17 previously underserved sitios since December 2024, investing nearly ₱26 million in new power lines, transformers, and household meters.
This achievement marks more than just the installation of infrastructure—it signals a new era of dignity, safety, and opportunity for families who have long waited for the light.

Lighting Up Lives: Personal Stories of Transformation
The impact of electrification is deeply felt in communities like Hacienda Embang Mesa, Barangay Bagtic, Silay City. Here, the glow of electric lights has brought about a transformation that residents once only dreamed of.
Judith Arsenal, a mother of three, shares how electricity has changed her family’s life:
“We always feared the dangers of gas lamps, and my children struggled to study at night,” she recalls, her voice filled with emotion. “Now, simply turning on a light bulb feels miraculous. It’s a small thing for some, but for us, it’s life-changing. My children can study safely, and our home feels secure.”
Cecilia Yeban, another resident, highlights the newfound convenience and connection electricity brings:
“We waited so long for this. Before, we had to walk far to charge our phones or buy ice just to keep food cold,” she says. “Now, our lives are easier, and we feel more connected to the rest of the world. We’re no longer isolated—we’re finally part of the larger community.”
Empowering Communities and Fueling Local Growth
The Sitio Electrification Program has reached sitios across Bacolod City, Talisay City, Silay City, Bago City, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto. The benefits go far beyond lighting up homes. Reliable electricity means small businesses can flourish, farmers can better preserve their harvests, and students can access digital learning resources.
Access to electricity also enhances public safety and health. Well-lit homes and streets reduce the risk of accidents and crime, while powered health centers can offer better services, store vaccines, and operate essential medical equipment. For many, these improvements mark the beginning of a new chapter filled with promise and possibility.
Roel Castro, President and CEO of Negros Power, emphasizes the broader vision behind the initiative:
“This is about more than just power lines and electric meters. It’s about dignity, safety, and giving every family the right to live in comfort and security. We are bridging the gap for communities long left behind, and we’re committed to building a future where everyone has access to the opportunities that electricity brings.”
Building a Brighter and More Inclusive Future
Negros Power’s electrification efforts are part of a larger mission to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for Central Negros. With a 25-year franchise granted in 2024, the company is dedicated to rolling out consumer-focused programs that improve the quality of life for all residents. This includes not only expanding access to electricity but also promoting energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
By prioritizing the electrification of remote and underserved areas, Negros Power is laying the groundwork for long-term development. The company’s efforts are helping to close the gap between urban and rural communities, ensuring that progress reaches even the most isolated households.
The Promise of Light: A New Beginning for Central Negros
As dusk settles over the newly electrified sitios, the soft glow of light bulbs fills homes that once knew only darkness. The gentle hum of appliances, the flicker of televisions, and the buzz of charged phones are now part of daily life—simple yet powerful symbols of change and progress.
For the 1,671 families who have finally received electricity, the future is no longer shrouded in uncertainty. It is bright, secure, and filled with new possibilities. Children can study without straining their eyes, parents can work and care for their families more effectively, and entire communities can look forward to a better quality of life.
As Roel Castro affirms, “We are not just distributing electricity—we’re distributing opportunity, hope, and progress. And this is only the beginning.”
With every switch flipped and every home illuminated, Central Negros moves closer to a future where no one is left in the dark—and where hope, light, and progress shine for all.
